Interview and giveaway

June 10, 2013

Hey there. I’m up on Hearts on Fire Reviews with an interview and a chance to win a free copy of Sole Support. Come check out my long answers to short questions (big surprise, right?) I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a featured author for them.

I also just put Into Deep Waters up on Amazon; I had enough requests to do so, even though I have to charge .99 for it there. We’ll see if it finds a wider audience, and Lambda Legal will benefit from the royalties. I’m also in the process of getting some of my free stories up on All Romance ebooks. The only ones there are the M/M group books, and I thought I’d try to get the series short stories listed too. My big thanks to Enny and Jess for formatting help with those.

I’m still putting together a free collection of the YA short stories I’ve been writing on the Goodreads YA LGBT group, with three new additions. These include M/M, F/F, trans, bi, and M/M/M. I’m working on a title for the collection. Feel free to weigh in with your opinion. From the choices proposed I’ve narrowed it down to:

Bites of the Rainbow
Bits of the Rainbow
A Taste of the Rainbow
Prism Glimpses
Rainbow Briefs
Rainbow Shorts
Brief Snapshots
Assorted Rainbow Shorts
Quilt Squares
Prismatic Shorts
Moonbow Briefs
Rainbow Skies
Through the Prism

This will release under the Kira Harp pen name, and I want it to suggest LGBT and short stories. I’m interested in which one would make you maybe click on it, expecting that kind of story in a good way.

And just FYI, the second round of edits on Learning Curve – Life Lessons book 4 are almost done. Line edits next…

H Kaje, I hope you’re well. I saw the update re LL4 – does this mean that you’ll be announcing a release date shortly? Thanks and kind regards, Rita

I hope so – my editor has to look at this second round of changes and then unless she has concerns (because I might maybe have added another chapter…) it will go to line edits. That’s the point at which the publisher usually assigns a book a spot in the release schedule. As soon as I know, I’ll definitely be posting it. I’m glad you’re interested.

Thanks for the updates. Can’t wait for LL4!!!

I don’t normally read YA, but since you’re writing it I think I’ll give them a try.

Also, real SS the day it came out. Very difficult read – both my maternal grandparents had Alzheimer’s and my mom is already having issues – but it was a great book.

I’m so sorry your family is going through that – I imagine it made SS even more difficult. I used that book to work through some of my own family history, and I’m just glad that it also seems to be working well as fiction for some readers.

Thanks! But in truth, as difficult as it was to get through SS, it helped. I often marvel at how books can make me feel less alone in my struggles. Seeing Kellen go through some of the same things really helped me. I know there are thousands just like me going through the same things with family members, but reading it in fiction helped it finally get through.

I’m a big believer in the power of books to help us see ourselves as normal and part of the spectrum of human lives, from the nerdy YA characters I read as a teen on down the line. I’m glad if this book works that way for some readers, as it did for me to write it.
